COVID RAPID ANTIGEN TEST FOR TRAVEL TO BARBADOS, JAMAICA, TURKS AND CAICOS
NOTE: THIS PAGE IS NOW OUT OF DATE
Barbados, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos seem to require that the rapid antigen swab be taken from the nasopharynx (deep nasal). We do perform these during weekdays. We do not do nasopharyngeal swabs on weekends except for April 9-10 when we do have testers experienced in performing these.
Turks and Caicos: Turks and Caicos appears to require that the test report include proof that the lab carrying out the test is ISO-certified, though the wording is rather ambiguous. It is not clear if they are referring to PCR tests or both PCR and rapid antigen tests. Rapid antigen tests are carried out primarily by clinics and pharmacies, not labs. Clinics and pharmacies do not normally have ISO-certification, since these are not laboratories. Our reports include the name of the rapid antigen test being done, the Health Canada authorization number for this test and a link to the Health Canada test authorization website but no ISO certificate. While we cannot guarantee that this is sufficient for Air Canada and the authorities in Turks and Caicos, we can say that we have not heard back from any of the dozens of travellers who we have tested and who were departing for Turks and Caicos.
An alternative for travellers is to book a PCR test instead. We do not perform these any longer. If booking a PCR elsewhere, be sure you will be provided with the ISO certificate for the lab processing the test.
Contact us: We reply to email (preferred) and phone messages.
