A video appointment
What it is
A videolink (at-home) appointment is internet-based, similar to Skype or Facetime but uses a secure connection. You will be seeing and speaking with one of our clinic's nurses or doctors. We have partnered with a local pharmacist who will administer any vaccines you might need during this time when our clinic is closed. We can fax prescriptions there or to your preferred pharmacy.
You will see these on the booking page. You can exit that page at any time and you can cancel your booked appointment without charge until two hours prior to your booked time. Payment is made at the end of the consultation by credit card.
You will see that fees are higher for videolink appointments to compensate for the greater cost to us.
Please have all immunization records on hand and available. If you have children travelling with you, please weigh them and have the weights available at the time of our conversation.
The folks providing our video-link platform will take you through a 5-10 minute set up process, worth the bother to ensure a good audio and visual connection. They will also ask for a password - a necessary nuisance. We would appreciate your feedback about your videolink experience. You can give that here.
What we discuss
During the consultation we commonly discuss vaccines, anti-malarial medications if needed, food and water precautions, treatment of diarrhea, dengue fever, Zika, altitude sickness (Peru, Nepal and Mount Kilimanjaro), seasickness (cruises, Galapagos), animal and insect bites and more.
We now also spend ample time discussing the thorny issue of travel and coronavirus.
